Text Box: About Gloria Hander Lyons

I’ve channeled 30 years of training and hands-on experience in the areas of art, interior decorating, crafting and event planning into writing creative how-to books, with fourteen titles published so far. Recently, I added a line of how-to booklets that are 24-36 pages and a collection of easy to sew fabric doll patterns. Both sell for just $4.95 each.

My books cover a wide range of topics including decorating your home, cooking, planning weddings and tea parties and crafting. I’ve also published a guide to share the information I’ve learned about self-publishing with all of you who long to be published authors but think it’s an impossible dream. It’s not! You can do it and my book: Self-Publishing On a Budget: A Do-It-All-Yourself Guide can show you how. Order or read more about it on the Self-Publishing page. You’ll also find helpful tips and self-publishing links there.

Many of my books are now available on Amazon.com and all of them are eligible for Amazon’s free super-saver shipping.

I began my writing career designing original craft projects featured in magazines, such as Better Homes and Gardens, McCall’s, Country Handcrafts, and Crafts. Then I progressed to writing creative how-to books and started my own publishing company, Blue Sage Press, to produce them.

I also enjoy writing humorous slice-of-life vignettes, and developed a series of stories called “What’s Up with That?” I’ll be posting a new story each month on my author website, www.gloriahanderlyons.com, for your entertainment and mine.

I teach interior decorating, self-publishing, wedding and decorative painting classes at my local community college. If you live in the Galveston County/Clear Lake area, visit the Classes page for a complete list of classes.

Much to my family’s delight, my kitchen is in non-stop test mode, developing recipes for new cookbooks. Go to the Books Page to read about my creative how-to books and cookbooks.

Don’t miss my Monthly Newsletter for free decorating and event planning tips, craft ideas and taste-tempting recipes. I’ve just added new Gift Ideas page that has FREE patterns and recipes that you can use to make your own gifts.
